KINGDOM IDENTITY...A Matter of the Heart

"So above all, guard the affections of your heart, for they affect all that you are. Pay attention to the welfare of your innermost being." (Proverbs 4:23 The Passion Translation)

This month has found me deep in contemplation and prayer as I see the world careening out of control, being tossed to and fro in chaos. It seems the chaos is escalating, and people's hearts are failing them for fear (Luke 21:26). I have been praying..."Lord, how does this relate to our kingdom identity? What are you saying in this? What is important to you right now for your beloved? What is to be our response to all of this?" As I waited I heard Him say, "It's a matter of the heart."

"O Eternal One, guide me along Your path so that I may live in your truth." Unite my divided heart so that I will fear Your great name." (Psalm 86:11 The Voice Translation)

There were 2 things the Lord showed me about our Kingdom identity in relation to our heart. One is to make sure we do not have a divided heart. Those who are living in kingdom identity have a heart completely united with His. He is first, His will is first, His purpose for our lives is first. We talked last month about living with one another in unity, but this month the Lord is speaking about the importance of an individual's heart. We cannot have a divided heart and accomplish the all-important first commandment. The Lord has no problem with us loving others or 'things', but none can be more important than Him. To live in kingdom identity means guarding our heart to see that nothing takes precedence over Him and His will. If something 'creeps in' that takes prominence in your heart over His word and will, be quick to repent and get your priorities in order. To live in kingdom identity requires laying down ANYTHING that would exalt itself above Him.

Another matter of the heart comes from Ezekiel 11:19-20 (The New Living Translation) "And I will give them singleness of heart and put a new spirit within them. I will take away their stony, stubborn heart and give them a tender, responsive heart, so they will obey my decrees and regulations. Then they will truly be my people, and I will be their God." There are times we can get caught up in the things of the world and decide it's OK to say or do something that is not in line with His best for us. But it is a ploy (a maneuver) of the enemy. There is nothing better, higher or more satisfying than living the life God ordained for you, fully moving in your Kingdom identity. If you don't feel you are living God's best, repent and allow Him to remove the stony (unrepentant) places in your heart. It is never too late to start fresh with Him.

Pray with me...."Father thank you that my Kingdom identity is a matter of the heart. Lord, take my heart and make it fully yours. I see myself putting my whole heart in Your hands right now. Reveal to me the places I have not put you first, and let me be quick to set things in order. I decree from this day forward I will put you first in my life and in my heart. I decree I will be quick to follow you with a responsive heart, and will be led by Your Holy Spirit in every area of my life. In Jesus name...Amen!"
