(10) I am a wall, and my breasts like towers; then I became in His eyes as one who found peace.
As we come to the last few verses of the Song of Solomon, we see the final progression of the bride. She has gone through many seasons of her life with the Bridegroom, and now she is walking in full maturity. Her life has been a spiritual progression; but now she knows who she is, and she knows whose she is.
She has a revelation of her own spiritual maturity. She knows there is no hidden motive in her heart, only a desire to serve the purpose of God. She no longer sees herself as a separate entity, living primarily for her own earthly happiness, but as a source of protection and nurturing for others, and a handmaiden for His purpose.
This is not a spirit of pride, but complete confidence that comes only by revelation. She speaks what the Lord thinks about her. Some of the great men in the Bible spoke the same thing. Paul said in I Corinthians 11:1 "Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ." John the Baptist recognized his call to be a voice crying in the wilderness to point to Jesus (John 1: 22-23). Moses wrote about himself"...Moses was very humble, more than all men who were on the face of the earth." (Numbers 12:3) Enoch had a testimony that he was pleasing to God "By faith Enoch was taken away so that he did not see death...for before he was taken he had this testimony, that he pleased God." (Hebrews 11:5)
These are all examples of holy confidence. The bride also has this same testimony before the Bridegroom. She has the assurance that she has accomplished all the will of God with all her heart. She attributes her growth to the seal of 8:6, which produced her maturity. Like a wall, she commits to surround and enclose the ones entrusted to her. She recognizes her ability to nurture others, and will not draw back from her responsibilities to lead.
And finally, she lives with an undistracted heart free from self-consciousness. There will always be those who criticize and judge, but she is living before an audience of One, and has complete assurance of His approval. She has found peace by knowing who she is in His eyes. This is the destination of the bride of Christ; free from fear and shame, walking as a co-creator with Christ.
