Song of Solomon 8:7
(7) Many waters cannot quench love, nor can the floods drown it. If a man would give for love all the wealth of his house, it would be utter despised.
The Bridegroom is speaking to His bride, assuring her there is nothing that can conquer His love. The waters speak of disappointments, the cares of this world, accusations, temptations, poverty, shame...you can fill in the blank with any number of things. But NOTHING can quench this love, because it is the Father's love being imparted to us for His son.
In the natural, water always puts out fire (Song of Solomon 8:6b); but the flame of God's supernatural love will conquer everything in its path. There is no flood of adversity, sickness or pain that can put out the fire of His love. Even a deluge of flood waters cannot drown or wash away God's love for Jesus in the heart of His bride.
This love is the bridal seal (Song of Solomon 8:6a). It is the love that marks the bride as being forever His. It has no price tag and cannot be bought. The bride will be 'wealthy in love', with no thought as to what this love will cost her. She can live in sacrifice, if need be, because she is living in the powerful love that is a reward in itself.
Have you experienced this kind of love? In the beginning of her journey, the bride asked for the kisses of His mouth. And in her diligence to pursue and continue to say 'Yes' to Him, He gave her what she desired the most...a mature bridal love. He gave her the greatest reward; the power to love and be loved. Selah...
