Song of Solomon 5:4-5

(4) My Beloved put His hand by the latch of the door, and my heart yearned for Him. (5) I arose to open for my Beloved, and my hands dripped with myrrh, my fingers with liquid myrrh on the handles of the lock.

There are times that only the grace and love of God can compel us to move towards Him. In the previous verse, the bride hesitated, not wanting to go where her Beloved was leading. She knew it would require more sacrifice than she was willing to give. But then...her Beloved bridegroom touched her heart with His hand of grace, and love began to flow out. His love was something she had tasted in the past, and now she wanted more, regardless of the cost. When He touched her heart, she was awakened once more to His beauty. She was then willing to abandon every excuse and embrace His path for her.

Does this sound familiar? We will all come to this place numerous times in our Christian walk. Psalm 110:3a says, "Your people shall be willing in the day of Your power..." So, what makes us willing? It is the power of God's love and grace. Philippians 2:13 verifies this "for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure."

As the bride unreservedly says 'Yes' and opens the door of her heart, she finds His will has become hers. She is now willing to go the whole way with Him, even into the sufferings. She has discovered the sweet fragrance of His sufferings has now been transferred to her. This is a mark of the true bride.
