Song of Solomon 5:1

June 6, 2017

(1) I have come to My garden, My sister, My spouse; I have gathered My myrrh with My spice; I have eaten My honeycomb with My honey; I have drunk My wine with My milk. Eat, O friends! Drink, yes, drink deeply, O beloved ones!

In the previous verse, the bride invites her Beloved into His garden. She is offering Him the opportunity to enjoy all that has grown up within her. And now He comes. What He finds are the makings of a mature bride, one that has paid the price. Just like Jesus paid the price on the cross because of His love for us, so the bride has now paid a price for Him to enjoy the fruits of His labor in her life. She has allowed trials and tribulations to work His complete work of grace in her life. "Always carrying around in the body the dying of Jesus, so that the [resurrection] life of Jesus also may be shown in our body." (2 Corinthians 4:10-12 AMP)She yielded to this work because of her love for Him. She yields to His full ownership of her life, understanding she is His inheritance.

In speaking of His garden in her, His myrrh was when she embraced the cross and said 'Yes' to Him. His spice was the grace of God that worked itself into her 'Yes' to Him. His honeycomb is the love He feasts on because she is part of the corporate bride, and His honey is the portion she provides. In His garden, He can drink the wine of celebration and the milk of strength, or the effectiveness of His bride.

Because she is living for Him, He can trust her to the point He is able to invite His friends to 'eat' and 'drink' deeply from her. He knows what she offers is great nourishment for others as well. But first and foremost, it is for Him to enjoy!

In closing, the mature bride will develop such a love for Him, that there is no cost too high to please Him. We are all on that journey, and His love will conquer all. "Many waters cannot quench love, nor can the floods [of trial] drown it" (Song of Solomon 8:7a)
