Song of Solomon 4:6

April 3, 2017

(6) Until the day breaks and the shadows flee away, I will go my way to the mountain of myrrh and to the hill of frankincense.

Have your ever been in a season of struggles and temptations in your life, and having gotten through it, you look back and say, "I can see clearly now what was happening in all that!"  Maybe you had to learn a lesson the hard way, so to speak. Maybe the enemy temporarily blinded you to the true picture of the circumstances. While you were in it, you felt hopeless, discouraged, tired and just had no hope for the future. But having gotten through it and on the 'other' side of it, you see things from a different perspective. This happens to all of us at one point or another in our lives, sometimes many times over.

It is only when we get on the other side of a circumstance or hardship, and begin to abide in the light of His love and revelation, that we are able to see and comprehend correctly the darkness we have just come through. While we were in it, we could not see clearly. Our comprehension and reasoning was skewed.

This scripture in the Song of Solomon is a key to living victoriously! Spoken by the bride, this is her place of coming fully into the light and revelation of how He sees her, and is a place of total turn-around for her! Up to this point she has been reluctant to follow Him completely. She has been going through some circumstances and hardships. But now, she is saying "YES" to Him. His unconditional love has convinced her that she is able to do all He asks. She says "I will go..." She has reached a place of maturity in which she knows and recognizes there are weaknesses and issues she still has to overcome, but she is WILLING to go anywhere and do anything He asks of her. What an incredible place to be!

So many times we hold back from the things the Lord has asked of us because we feel unworthy, afraid or inadequate. Though these feelings may be real, what He says about you is a greater truth. His truth supersedes and trumps our feelings. Get in touch with what He says about you, and how He sees you, and you will understand the economy of His kingdom. All He wants is a "YES" from you, and He will do the rest.

The bride recognizes and declares this in one sentence. In essence she is saying, "I know I still have issues and am not totally mature; I know there are areas of darkness & shadows still in my life, but I will GO! I will GO! These 3 little words are music to the bridegroom King. All He wants is a willing vessel.

She goes on to describe how she will move forward. It is by embracing the cross in her life (the mountain of myrrh) and staying in prayer (the hill of frankincense). These are keys to moving forward in and with Him. Myrrh is a spice that represents obedience to death, while frankincense represents the purity of intercession.

With these two keys, the bride has unlocked the secret of abiding in the light as He is in the light.  And in the light, darkness has to flee.  Yes, there will still be circumstances to overcome and hardships to face, because we live in a fallen world.  But, there is a path that leads to victory...and the bride has found it!
