Song of Solomon 3:7-8

(7) Behold, it is Solomon's couch, with sixty valiant men around it, of the valiant of Israel. (8) They all hold swords, being expert in war. Every man has his sword on his thigh because of fear in the night.
In Solomon's time, when he would marry, he would send a chariot, also called a couch, to get his future bride and bring her to the palace. Many times that journey for the bride would be a long one, across the desert and wasteland, and there were numerous dangers on that journey. Not only were there wild animals, but there were enemies that wanted to ambush the royal procession, either to harm the royal family, or steal the precious stones and gold that were being transported. Because of the danger, Solomon had warriors to protect and escort the bride to her future home. These men were not just warriors, but they were loyal native-born bodyguards who loved their king. They would willingly give their lives to protect what was his. They were not novices, but trained mature warriors. They stood ready to defend the bride at a moment's notice, day and night.
This is a beautiful allegory of our journey as the bride of Christ. Our bridegroom king, Jesus, will provide everything we need to complete our journey to Him. The couch is symbolic of our being able to rest in Him as He provides what we need for our journey. Jesus is such a safe savior, and we can trust Him in every season of life. Even when danger or discouragement lurks, He is there, ready to provide what we need.
He has given us Holy Spirit, which is symbolic of those valiant warriors. Holy Spirit will warn us, guide us, direct us, and speak to us about things we will encounter during the day. All we need to do is listen, and be aware of His constant presence with us.
He has also given us His word, which is another guide in our journey. His word is like a shield around us, teaching us and showing us safe boundaries in our life. His word, when it goes deep in our spirit and soul, will enlighten our path and defend us from the plans and schemes of the enemy. It will cause us to grow in wisdom and understanding.
We can be sure that if we are His, He will guarantee our safe passage through life, and all the way to eternity with Him. II Timothy 1:12 "...I know Him [and I am personally acquainted with Him] whom I have believed [with absolute trust and confidence in Him and in the truth of His deity], and I am persuaded [beyond any doubt] that He is able to guard that which I have entrusted to Him until that day [when I stand before Him]."
