Song of Solomon 1:3
(3) Because of the fragrance of your good ointments, Your name is ointment poured fourth; therefore the virgins love you.
Jesus Christ....our beloved Bridegroom King, is the essence of the best and most desirable healing ointment (balm), or fragrance. His name, Christ, means 'the anointed one'. He IS the anointing, and whomever He touches is anointed. It's this anointing, or essence of who He is, that carries the power; first of all to draw you to Him, and then to draw others because of His anointing in you.
Fragrance is not something we can touch or feel tangibly, yet it has an incredible drawing power. Here the Bride of Christ is acknowledging the fragrance of her Bridegroom is drawing her, and as she yields, His anointing (or healing ointment) will heal the deepest hurts and torn emotions of her soul.
In the previous verse, she acknowledged His love is better than wine, but now she understands that because she has experienced His tangible love, she is now being healed in the deep recesses of her heart.
Do you need to be healed in the deep recesses of your heart? Just come to Him. Experiencing His love will heal every hurt, every disappointment, every rejection, and every heartache.
In this verse, the virgins are like the newborn babes or the very young in Christ; the ones who have not yet matured in Him. They too, are being drawn into a place of experience and maturity in Him.
You see, there is a difference between the immature believer and the insincere believer. 2 Corinthians 2:14-15 describes it this way..."Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place. For we are to God the fragrance of Christ among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing."
The fragrance of the anointed one will reveal the hearts of the immature, as well as the heart condition of the insincere. As those walking in maturity, God does not call us to judge, but only to release the fragrance of His anointing wherever we go. He will do the rest. Selah...
